Ms Sally Blair White

Hi! My name is Sally Blair White, and I am the Drama Teacher. I arrived at St Andrew’s College Junior School in 2009 after a change of career from the financial services world! Performing has always played a major role in my life - acting, directing and singing with a five-part harmony group.
In 2008, I followed my heart and decided to study for my Drama Teaching Diploma so that I could teach Drama to young children. Once I had become an Associate of the Irish Board of Speech and Drama, I set up my own Drama & Dance school in September 2009. A few months later, I joined the team at St Andrew’s College Junior School where Karen Armitage (Head of Music) and I, were tasked to direct and produce a P6 musical. Fast forward and we have now both produced fifteen P6 musicals and are currently working on our sixteenth!
Karen and I work closely together throughout each year producing the Christmas Concerts, the Nativities, the Performing Arts Festival, the Spring Musicals and the Summer Concert. Our priority is always to provide opportunities for the children to perform in front of an audience which in turn builds confidence while having an enormous amount of fun.
I also teach Lunchtime and Afterschool Drama classes for P3-P6. Again, these classes are primarily to encourage children to perform and gain confidence in a safe and nurturing environment whilst working on acting skills. We usually prepare for drama examinations prior to Christmas and then the children love to showcase their talent performing for parents at an end of year evening.
Alongside the drama, I choreograph the P6 musical and a number of dance routines throughout the school year having had training in ballet, jazz and tap from a very, very young age!
I’m really looking forward to working with the children again as we aim for another fun packed year of performance…….
