At St. Andrew's College, we believe that digital learning is a transformative tool that enhances teaching, learning, and communication across our school community. By embedding digital technologies into the curriculum, we aim to equip our students with the skills they need to thrive in a connected, digital world and become responsible global citizens.

Our approach is guided by a comprehensive Digital Learning Plan (DLP), aligned with the Digital Strategy for Schools to 2027. This plan ensures that digital tools are integrated across all areas of teaching and learning, supporting diverse learning styles and preparing students for future challenges.

Key Features of Our Digital Learning Environment:

  • 1:1 Device Program: Students in first and second year, as well as the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, benefit from our 1:1 device program. This initiative is rolling out across additional year groups in the Senior Cycle, providing students with the necessary tools for learning in and beyond the classroom.

  • Digital Skills Development: A dedicated 8-week Digital Skills module for first-year students introduces them to key areas like online safety, digital citizenship, and collaboration through digital platforms.

  • Digital Reflection and Study: We encourage students to take ownership of their learning through digital study portfolios and reflection tasks, which help them assess their progress and set goals.

  • Teacher Support and Professional Development: All teachers are equipped with personal devices and benefit from continuous professional development, including OIDE courses and regular digital drop-in sessions, which offer ongoing personalized support and guidance on the latest digital tools and strategies.

  • Departmental Planning and Collaboration: Teachers are allocated dedicated department meeting time to plan for digital integration within their subjects, ensuring that digital learning is effectively embedded into teaching practices.

  • Range of Digital Hardware: We provide a variety of digital hardware to support teaching and learning, including:

  • 11 laptop trolleys, each containing roughly 20 to 24 devices, allowing flexible access to digital tools in any classroom.

  • Interactive whiteboards and projectors in classrooms to enhance lesson delivery.

  • Surface devices provided to all teachers for planning, assessment, and lesson delivery.

  • Laptops and desktop computers available in two digital learning rooms for student use.

Our goal is to ensure that every student and teacher has access to the tools and training they need to succeed in today’s digital landscape. As we continue to innovate and refine our approach to digital learning, we are committed to fostering an environment where technology enhances creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
