Debating

ST ANDREW'S COLLEGE DUBLIN watermark

Debating in St Andrew’s College Dublin is one of its most vibrant and ever-expanding clubs. Open on Tuesdays at lunch in 5:04 to Juniors and to Senior students at Thursday lunchtime in 8:05, in total the debating clubs have over one hundred members all involved in improving their argumentation and public speaking skills that requires no previous experience.

Debate club is a great place to learn about how to form your own beliefs on a variety of subjects, expand your knowledge of logic, or just play fun public speaking games with friends. Debate club allows for everyone to switch between learning casual and more fun skills and transitioning into competitive debating. There is no reason not to drop down once a week and see what there is to learn.

Recently, St Andrew’s has seen great success in debating. From a Third Year team becoming national champions in the Irish School’s Debating Competition in 2024, to teams competing in both the Oxford and Cambridge Unions there is no debate over how we have been one of the better school’s teams even in the club’s early years. The club sends competitors to Maces, Prepared Competitions, Speech Events, and the Concern Debate League.

We’d love to catch you at Debate Club!
