Student Council

ST ANDREW'S COLLEGE DUBLIN watermark

Purpose

The Student Council exists to provide a focus for student opinion, to enable the views and suggestions of students to be communicated to the College authorities, and to encourage students to play a positive role in the effective running of the school.

Constitution

The Student Council is organised and run by the Senior Student Team, which comprises the Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boys and Deputy Head Girls. They, along with two students from each of the six years, elected by their peers, are the members of the Student Council.

Mode of Operation

The Council meets either weekly or fortnightly, depending on the circumstances. Queries, requests and suggestions sent through class representatives to year representatives come before the Council for consideration. These are discussed and, where appropriate, relayed to the Principal. The Council reports back to year representatives and generally keeps the student body informed as to how suggestions are being received and dealt with. The Head Girl and Head Boy in conjunction with the deputy principal set the agenda and chair the WSC meetings. Minutes of the WSC meetings are retained in files on the WSC Teams Page for the attention of Year Heads, and the Senior Leadership Team. Minutes are also posted on the WSC noticeboard in the College.
