P5A

My name is Kathy Armitage and I’m delighted to be joining the St Andrew’s Junior School staff and teaching P5 next academic year. I have worked with children for the past 10 years in a variety of capacities and I’m no stranger to SACJS, having completed placement and substitute work here. My mother has been Head of Music in the Junior School for the past 17 years and I have been helping with the P6 musical for as long as I can remember.
I’m thrilled to be joining a school with such an outstanding reputation and am eager to contribute to the continued success of the students and school community. I achieved a first class honours in both my undergraduate degree in Sport Science and Health from Dublin City University and Masters degree in Primary Education with Hibernia College. I’m dedicated to promoting the holistic development of students; not only through the teaching of academic content, but by developing the skills and values that will serve them going forward.
I believe that P5 plays a big role in children’s academic growth and personal development. We will work towards fostering their independence, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We will also focus on developing organisational skills and an understanding of how they learn best in order to prepare them for increased responsibilities and challenges down the line. I’m excited to support your child through this year and help them achieve their full potential.
In my spare time, I love to keep fit by running, going to the gym and taking part in a variety of different sports. I also have a keen interest in the arts and regularly enjoy attending musicals. I believe that home-school collaboration is crucial for children’s success as it ensures consistent support and reinforces learning both in the classroom and at home. If you have any questions or queries, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
