Engineering Week in P2
What a busy week they had!
Last week, our P2 students were very busy engineering a fantastic Engineering Week.
The boys and girls had an action-packed week and learned about the varying types of engineers, important inventions made by engineers, what our life would be like without engineers, famous Irish emigrant engineers, the strongest shapes for building, what engineers have done for space exploration, and so much more!
As a brilliant tie into International Women's Day, they also read the inspirational book Rosie Revere, Engineer.
They then designed a hat with a purpose, inspired by the 'snake repelling hat' Rosie had made for her zookeeper uncle in the book.
They also took part in a super engineering online workshop delivered by Epic, the Irish Emigration Museum, and then made origami planes or boats. And finally they used marshmallows and toothpicks to build structures as part of our STEPS engineering workshop.
P2 really enjoyed their hands-on learning all about engineering, taking part in lots of workshops and activities, and getting a chance to become engineers for the week. What a brilliant learning opportunity!
