Academic Tracking

ST ANDREW'S COLLEGE DUBLIN watermark

At St Andrew's we want to help all students achieve their full potential and make the most out of their time in the College. Each student has unique abilities, learning styles, and potential for growth so in order to track academic progress we use Athena Tracker.

Athena Tracker is an academic tracking tool which tracks a student’s baseline potential in each subject in each exam. The tracker uses all available past results and aptitude scores to create a student’s baseline in each subject. This allows the College to continuously track where a student is in relation to this baseline to highlight if a student is drifting below their own unique potential and may need additional support. Athena tracker is very useful as a motivating technique and in setting targets for students. The software also highlights when a student is performing above their potential, even if not achieving top grades.

Implementing the tracking of student performance

Subject Teachers - have access to student base line data which allows them to monitor individual student progress. The software helps teachers identify strengths and address areas for improvement.

Subject Departments – can review results of year groups in their subject areas and evaluate practice and methodologies in their subject department planning.

Year Heads – Athena tracker summary reports after each set of house exams allows year heads to monitor progress of individual students:

(i) performing below their potential and to explore further their needs for additional support.

(ii) exceeding their potential in subjects and to further encourage and commend their effort.

Guidance/Support for Learning – have access to base line information and target grades of students which provides important data for individual meetings with students on their academic progress and plan for future studies/careers.
