Looking at Biodiversity

The Environment Group and Transition Year students are currently looking at Biodiversity in the the local and wider environment.  They have been examining various parts of the school and are looking at how it is in need of increased variations in species.  We are putting up bird, bat and pollinator boxes around the school and are also planting areas with wildflowers to encourage this development in our system.

The students will be planting a few small flowering trees as well as putting up educational displays around the school.

They have put together displays and presented in assemblies telling of biodiversity, plastic pollution, change in habits, bin usage and have analysed the habits of commuting to school with traffic surveys. They will continue working on all of these areas throughout the year.

Their work will lead to  a 'Sustainability' week in January - watch this space!
