American Studies

Welcome to US Studies. My name is Mrs Anaid Romero and this is my second year as a teacher with St Andrew's College Junior School where I am looking forward to another great year. I grew up in Miami, Florida in the U.S.A. before attending Florida International University (FIU) where I gained a Bachelor’s in Exceptional Student Education with an emphasis on English as a Second Language and went on to complete a Masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I have worked in a number of schools in Miami, Florida where I gained experience teaching across the primary and secondary class groups. I later worked with the school system and private practices in Miami as a Speech and Language Pathologist, for twelve years, before moving to Dublin in 2021.

US Studies is aimed at providing students with a comprehensive study of the United States of America. Students will be exposed to different time periods of U.S. history and geographical expansion. They will also uncover areas of civics, economics and government that make up America’s framework. This understanding, paired with America’s role in the global community, will give students a broader view of their responsibility in shaping the nation’s future.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, usually traveling or going on hikes with our Westie, Rocky. You can find me reading a good book or catching up on a period drama. I also spend time creating, art or crafts, and decorating for every season.  I am always eager for new adventures and places to explore.

I am a strong believer in the power of communication. If you ever need to discuss anything, please contact me via email or in person.
