Second Year Science Fair

SciFest Programme

On Thursday 8 November the Second Year Science Fair took place at the College.   SciFest@School is the first strand of the national SciFest programme.  This year there were 95 entrants across the different categories. 

The winners were as follows:

1st Prize Sophie Green How much water do we waste daily?
2nd Prize Mark Speer Testing the hydrostatic head and breathability of different raincoat materials
3rd Prize Tim Celano Does it really matter where you sit on an aircraft?
4th Prize Ellen Mitchell and Scarlet Moloney The effect of music on plant growth
5th Prize Daniel Branigan Does natural or bought fertiliser work best on basil plant growth?
6th Prize Myrtle Collins and Alex Minch Which solvent cleans contaminated coins the best?

The Science Department would like to thank the judges who gave so freely of their time to judge the exhibits and select the winners from the excellent array of work on display and the PTA for sponsoring the individual prizes and the perpetual trophies awarded to the overall winner and the winning Form which, this year, was 2CY.
