SAC Secondary School Sailing Club

SAC Secondary School Sailing Programs  & Powerboat License Courses

SAC Sailing Programs are organised by MJ Geraghty, Sailing Coordinator of SAC Secondary School.  The Secondary School Sailing Programs are run out of the RSGYC, Dunlaoighaire.  Students from 1st to 6th year are eligible to take part in the programs.  There are two main programs run through the academic year along with an option of summer sailing, RSGYC membership, summer employment and Powerboat Licence Certificates. 

SAILING/PB PROGRAMMES

  • Team Racing Training - SAC sailors continue with schools TR Training, Wednesdays 2 - 5pm. September to May.   Sailors need to have sailing experience and own sailing gear, including buoyancy aid and wet weather gear/wetsuit.  Sailors are provided with a Sailing Team Jersey after Term 1 where commitment is shown to the program.  Click here to register :  
  • Keelboat Program - no experience required.  Commences Term 3 -  10th April.  Limited places available - Click here to register
  • 2 week clinic Taste of Sailing, offered solely to SAC new 1st years commencing academic year 2023 - proposed dates - 11th to 22nd August. Suitable for students who are interested in trying sailing.  Run out of RIYC. Progression will be to the SAC RSGYC Keelboat program for 6 weeks at the beginning of the academic term.  Link to follow
  • 2 week feva clinic offered solely to SAC new 1st years commencing academic year 2023.  Students must have had previous sailing experience/keelboat junior SAC program or similar.  Run out of RSGYC. Option to charter more fevas or use other dinghies if large interest. Link to follow.
  • Feva training for all sailors wishing to progress to Team Racing.  6 weeks training Wednesdays 2-5pm.  This is open to all secondary school sailors (1st - 6th) with experience but not ready for a competitive team racing squad.  Option to progress to team racing program and join the SAC TR Panel for schools training and events.  SAC Squad training takes place throughout the whole academic year at the RSGYC through the RSGYC TR Schools Program
